Police nab 2 fugitives after 13 years on the run in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have arrested two fugitives who had been evading arrest for more than 13 years, bringing closure to two long-pending criminal cases.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad War, son of Nazir Ahmad War, resident of Batpora Sopore, and Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Mohammad Wani, resident of Lolpora Kunzar Tangmarg. They were wanted in connection with FIR No. 34/2013 under Sections 392, 511, 34 RPC and FIR No. 17/2013 under Sections 366, 109 RPC.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal said a special police team led by SHO Safapora Gulzar Hussain tracked the duo to Bengaluru and Maharashtra, where they were apprehended after sustained efforts.
Their arrest ends years of evasion and ensures they will now face legal proceedings, the SSP said.
Police described the arrests as part of their continued commitment to ensure that no offender remains beyond the reach of law. “Crime has no expiry,” police said, commending the perseverance of the investigating team.
Police reaffirmed their resolve to continue the pursuit of all absconders and offenders in the interest of justice and public safety.
