Police nab 2 drug peddlers in Pulwama, contraband substance recovered
Srinagar, Jan 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers along with huge quantity of contraband substance in Pulwama.
According to the statement issued, a police party during naka checking at Tengpona road intercepted two suspicious persons. During search, 20.675 kilograms of Charas (Choora) like substance concealed in Nylon bags were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Wagay, son of Bashir Ahmad Wagay, resident of Kandajan Budgam; and Mohd Maqbool Shah, son of Mohd Abdullah Shah, resident of Washbugh, Pulwama. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterate its commitment to eliminate the menace of drugs from society and urge the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking, the statement reads.
