Police launch verification drive to curb misuse of SIM cards in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, Dec 24: In an effort to prevent the misuse of SIM cards and ensure compliance with established regulations, District Police Ganderbal has initiated a drive for inspection of SIM card vendors.
An official said that as part of its ongoing efforts to curb the rising instances of fraud and to prevent misuse of mobile phone SIMs, District Police Ganderbal launched a verification drive on SIM card vendors in the jurisdiction of police station Gund in sub division Kangan.
The drive aims to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by subscribers and to ensure that SIM vendors are adhering to the guidelines set by the government and to ensure that their SIM connections are verified. Further, POS vendors were directed to maintain proper data and SIM cards must be issued only after proper verification of the antecedents of subscribers. He said the ongoing verification drive emphasises the commitment of Ganderbal Police to curb the menace of fake SIMS.
