Police issues advisory for tourists visiting Doodhpathri, Yousmarg
January 05: Budgam Police on Sunday issued advisory for general public and tourists travelling to Doodhpathri and Yousmarg tourist resorts advising to them take precautions in coming days.
The advisory was issued in view of the challenging road conditions in the tourist resorts besides the weather forecast given by Meteorological department of J&K UT.
The visitors and the tourists have been asked to follow instructions strictly while travelling to these tourist destinations.
"Only 4x4 vehicles and those with anti-skid chains shall be allowed to travel from the main town of Khanshaib towards Doodhpathri," the advisory reads.
The Police in its advisory have asked the visitors to ensure their vehicle is in optimal condition, focusing on brakes, lights and defrosters to prevent mechanical failures on icy roads.
"Drive slowly and steadily, avoid using cruise control and remain calm while steering carefully in case of skidding. Carry essential supplies such as warm clothing, food, blankets, a flashlight and a phone charger. Share your travel plans with trusted contacts and enable location sharing," the advisory reads.
The drivers have been asked to avoid blocking of roads and refrain from standing their vehicles along the roadsides and shall not overtake.
"Avoid driving in snow storm at all costs," it reads.
The Police have also established emergency helpline numbers and asked the visitors to dial the "national helpline 112".
