Police install safety signboards at Zojila Pass to prevent accidents

Ganderbal, Nov 4: In a move to enhance public safety and reduce road mishaps, Police in Ganderbal, under its ‘Operation Bachao’ initiative, has installed road safety and cautionary signboards at several vulnerable points along the Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway.

The initiative focuses on curbing road accidents and promoting responsible driving on one of the most accident-prone stretches in the region.

Officials said that all vulnerable spots and accident-prone zones were carefully identified before the installation of the signboards, which display warning messages, speed limits, and safety advisories to alert motorists and encourage safer driving behaviour.

A Police spokesman said the step is part of the Police’s ongoing commitment to protect lives and raise road safety awareness among commuters.

“The initiative reflects our continued efforts to prevent accidents and promote responsible driving practices, especially in high-risk areas like Zojila,” the spokesman said.
