Police inaugurate T20 cricket tournament in Handwara

Handwara, Feb 22: In a bid to strengthen youth engagement and promote community bonding, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday inaugurated a T20 knockout cricket tournament at Bakiaker playground in Handwara, Kupwara district.

The event was inaugurated by the wife of martyr constable Mohammad Rafiq Bhat, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary.

SSP Handwara on the inaugural said, "This tournament serves as a platform for promoting peace, unity, and engagement within the community."

He further said that the aim of such initiatives by the Police District Handwara was to engage the youth in constructive and healthy activities, diverting them from the path of drug abuse and other antisocial behaviours.

"These events not only help to develop a sense of community and sportsmanship but also contribute significantly to the overall well-being and positive development of the younger generation," he added.

During his interaction with the players, SSP Handwara highlighted the J&K Police's commitment to promoting sports. He also assured continued support for similar events in the future as well.
