Rajouri, Jan 21: Police has established new operational unit near dense woods at Jarran Wali Gali (JWG) of Mendhar sub division
The operational unit, which will be for SOG, has been established near the dense woods (forest area).
The area is surrounded by dense forests from all the sides that especially include forests of Nar, Bhata Dhurian where several terror incidents had happened in recent years that include terrorist attack on army vehicle on April 20 in last year. Another incident had occurred in these forests on October 16 in 2021.
Around 50 anti terror operations have been conducted in this area in last three years with most of these operations were launched after information of suspicious movement. Alongside, recoveries of arms and ammunition have also been made from the forest area during last couple of years.
This new operational camp of SoG will be headed by a Deputy SP ranked officer who has been referred to as Deputy SP Operation Jarran Wali Gali. Recently, as a step towards strengthening Counter Insurgency (CI) mechanism of police in Pir Panjal region, four new Deputy SPs have been posted in operational wing Police Component, also referred to as Special Operation Group (SoG), with three officers have been posted in Rajouri district and one in Poonch. Posting of these officers was seen as a major move to boost SoG in twin districts Rajouri and Poonch which are witnessing a sudden spaurt in terror incidents.
Additional Director General of Police in Jammu zone, Anand Jain on Saturday asked police troops to have more strengthened police public relations and also to generate and maintain generic input regarding movement of terrorist in the area.
The police officer issued these directions to the personnel especially from its Special Operation Group (SoG) while interacting with them at a newly established operational unit / camp at Jarran Wali Gali.
This new operational unit has been established by Jammu and Kashmir police under the Special Operation group (SoG) and was inaugurated by ADG Police Jammu zone, Anand Jain alongwith DIG Rajouri Poonch range, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Poonch Vinay K Sharma.
