Police engage VDGs to fortify border vigilance in Jammu
Jammu, Apr 6: Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma Sunday conducted a series of meetings with Village Defence Group (VDG) members in the areas of Pargwal, Garkhal, and Kanachak to sensitise them about the prevailing security scenario.
The meetings were conducted on the directions of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
During the meetings, SP Rural was accompanied by SDPO Domana Mudasir Hussain; SHO Akhnoor; SHO Kanachak; ICPP Pargwal, and ICBPP Garkhal.
The meetings on Saturday focussed on sensitising the VDG members about the prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Emphasis was laid on remaining vigilant and maintaining close coordination with security forces.
The VDG members were specifically instructed to immediately report any suspicious movement of anti-national elements or drone activity near the International Border (IB) to senior formations.
To enhance coordination and response, officers from the Army and BSF were also present during the interactions, reflecting strong inter-agency synergy in securing the region.
Additionally, a meeting was held with members of the nomadic population in the Lower Rajpura area to address their concerns and to encourage their participation in maintaining local security awareness.
