Police conduct raids on banned groups, inspect SIM vendors in Anantnag
Anantnag, Oct 8: Police carried out a series of coordinated raids and inspections across south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, targeting individuals linked to banned organisations and checking SIM card vendors for compliance with government regulations.
A Police spokesman in a statement issued here said that the Police officers searched multiple locations associated with suspected members of Hurriyat and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), seizing materials linked to these organisations.
“The operations were conducted in the presence of independent witnesses,” he said.
“These operations are part of our broader efforts to dismantle networks supporting separatist and terror activities in the region,” a Police spokesman said. “Anyone attempting to disrupt public order or revive banned groups will face strict legal consequences.”
In a separate initiative, the Police carried out surprise inspections of SIM card vendors to ensure compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) rules and prevent misuse.
The Police spokesman said that the inspections aim to enhance public safety, curb communication-related fraud, and prevent potential security threats.
