Police conduct raids at residences of terrorist associates, OGWs in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 09: In its sustained efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and curb unlawful activities, Srinagar Police conducted extensive raids at multiple locations across the city. The searches were carried out at the residences of terrorist associates and Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) affiliated with proscribed terrorist organizations, in connection with ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

A police spokesperson said that the coordinated search operations were conducted across various areas of Srinagar, targeting individuals involved in facilitating, aiding, or abetting terror-related activities.

He said the searches were carried out at the residences of Akhter Jeelani Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone (JeI ) resident of Sadipora Harwan; Mohd Youns Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone son of (JeI) resident of Sadipora Harwan; Gh Nabi Akhoon son of Mohd Ismail Akhon resident of Sadipora Harwan; Mohd Altaf Reshi son of Ali Mohd Reshi resident of Sadipora Harwan; Ab Majeed Reshi son of Ali Mohd Reshi resident of Sadipora Harwan; Sameer ahmad Reshi son of Lt Sonauallah Reshi  resident of Sadipora Harwan; Bashir Ahmad resident of Wavoosa; Mushtaq Ahmad khan resident of Wanabal; Mohd Maqbool Tantray resident of Rawalpora; Mohd Ayoub Dar resident of Rawalpora; Mushtaq Ahmad Dar resident of Rawalpora; Abdul Hamid Wani resident of Wavoosa Rangreth; and Mohd Idrees Khan resident of Karannagar.

The spokesperson said the searches were conducted in accordance with due legal procedure, in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, and under the supervision of senior officers of J&K Police.

The objective of these operations was to seize incriminating material such as documents, digital devices, and other evidence relevant to ongoing investigations. The raids also form part of a broader intelligence-gathering exercise aimed at pre-empting and disrupting any conspiratorial or terrorist activities threatening public peace and national security.

This decisive action underscores the commitment of Srinagar Police to identify and take firm legal action against all individuals involved in promoting or supporting terror-related and anti-national activities, he said.

Srinagar Police remains resolute in its mission to preserve peace, stability, and public order in the city. Anyone found abetting or assisting in unlawful or violent activities will be dealt with strictly under the law, spokesperson added.
