Police bust human trafficking racket in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 27: Five people, including a Rohingya man, have been arrested by the Bandipora police for their alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket, police announced on Monday.

A top police official in the district said the case was cracked by Hajin police station after the police received a tip off that some people were trafficking Rohingya women from Bangladesh and forcing them to marry locals in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir for money.

Bandipora Police also posted on X, "Five persons arrested in connection with human trafficking."

It added, "One Rohingya namely Manzoor Alam among arrested.The accused trafficked Rohingya women via Bangladesh and got them married to locals in the UT in exchange of money."

The police is expected to reveal further information about the case on Tuesday in a press conference.
