Police book 2 drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla
Srinagar, Mar 30: Two drug smugglers were booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
A statement of the J&K Police issued here said that Police booked the duo after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The statement said that drug smugglers Irshad Ahmad Wani of Pandithpora Bala Tangmarg, Baramulla and Muhammad Tajamul Masoodi of Bagander Pampore, Pulwama have been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
It said that the booked drug smugglers had been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.
The J&K Police statement said that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers who were involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Solinda, Khaipora, Tangmarg, and other areas of the district.
It said that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
