Kupwara, Aug 09: Police have attached immovable property of a notorious drug peddler in Humpora, Kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara, an official said on Friday.

He said that the attached property includes one kanal and eight marla orchard land which belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Beighpora, Kralgund. Pertinently Mushtaq is currently lodged at Kot Balwal in Jammu. He is involved in a number of NDPS cases.

Meanwhile Police in a statement said, “Continuing its action against drug peddlers Handwara Police attached orchard land of 1.8 kanals at Humpora Kralgund belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Mustaq Ahmad Mir @Chakoo son of Ghulam Nabi Mir resident of Beighpora Kralgund under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985”.

“The said peddler is found involved in number of NDPS cases which include FIR number 75/2020 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Kralgund, FIR number 91/2018 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act of PS Dangiwacha Sopore,” reads the statement.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kralgund Police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner. The notorious drug peddler is currently Under detention at Kote-bilwal Jammu under PIT-NDPS Act” the statement reads.

“This operation reaffirms the commitment of Handwara Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of Handwara Police with regard to the attachment of immovable properties which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddler in the Police District Handwara,” reads the statement further.
