Police attach property of drug peddler in Kulgam

Srinagar, Jan 31: Police on Wednesday attached the property of a drug peddler in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A statement of Police issued here said that in Kulgam, it attached a double-storey residential house and cowshed measuring 1291.48 sq ft valuing Rs 25,62,425 and 1139.5 sq ft valuing Rs 67,8803 belonging to a drug peddler Bashir Ahmad Khanday of Nippora under Section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during an investigation conducted by Police in Kulgam.

The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner.

The drug peddler is involved in case FIR No 148/2022 of Police Station Qazigund.

The statement said that this action reaffirms the commitment of J&K Police to combat the drug menace.

It said that locals have hailed the initiative of the Police about the attachment of immovable property, which has been raised and used for illicit trafficking of
narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kulgam district.
