Police attach properties of seven terrorists hiding in PoK
Srinagar, Nov 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized properties belonging to seven terrorists who are currently hiding in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
This action follows approval from a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Doda.
The police, along with revenue officials and magistrates, took possession of the properties in Kishtwar district. Kishtwar SSP Javed Iqbal confirmed the operation, stating that it was conducted under the court’s directives.
The operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, which has been a key focus for the Ministry of Home Affairs, reported Hindustan Times.
In February 2023, the NIA court had issued non-bailable warrants against 13 active terrorists from Kishtwar district.
By September 2023, these individuals were declared proclaimed offenders.
The attached properties belong to seven of the terrorists, who have been identified as: Shahnawaz Kanth (alias Munna, alias Umer) of Hullar, Nayeem Ahmed (alias Amir, alias Gazi) of Gundna, near Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar, Mohammad Iqbal (alias Bilal) of Kichloo Market, Kishtwar, Shahnawaz (alias Nayeem) of Chirool Padyarna, Javid Hussain Giri (alias Muzamil) of Kundali Pochal, Bashir Ahmed Mughal, Gazi-ul-Din, Sattar Din (alias Rajab, alias Saifullah) of Jugna Keshwan, Imtiyaz Ahmed (alias Dawood) of Banderna, Kishtwar.
The remaining six terrorists had already been involved in terror activities, including mobilizing sleeper cells and collaborating with separatist leaders to undermine India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir.
They were implicated in activities aimed at creating unrest in the Chenab Valley and broader regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Additionally, 118 terrorists from Doda district are reportedly hiding in PoK, further complicating security efforts in the region.
