Police arrest inter-district gang of drug peddlers
Srinagar, June 6: Police arrested an inter-district gang of drug peddlers in Ganderbal on Thursday.
A statement of J&K Police issued here said that Police in Ganderbal arrested a gang of inter-district drug peddlers and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
Police established a checkpoint at Yenhama Lar and during checking, a drug peddler identified as Sheikh Murifat of Lar who was coming from Watalbagh towards Lar was arrested along with contraband substance.
In this regard, a case FIR No 23/2024 under the relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Lar.
The Police said that on his disclosure and evidence surfaced in the investigation, Police raided multiple places and recovered 559 bottles of codeine and 14,900 tablets of banned psychotropic substance.
During the investigation, four more accused persons belonging to different districts of Kashmir were arrested.
They have been identified as Sabir Nabi Shagoo of Bemina Srinagar, Dawood Ahmad Rather of Narbal Budgam, Rameez Rafiq of Ajas Bandipora and Parvaiz Ahmad Hanga of Karfuli Mohalla, Srinagar.
Police in Ganderbal have registered 12 NDPS cases and arrested 19 drug peddlers in the current year.
