Police arrest five accused in theft cases; recover gold, cash, other valuables in south Kashmir's Anantnag
Srinagar, Aug 27: Police on Tuesday said that they have cracked multiple theft cases, leading to the arrest of five accused individuals from the Kokernag area of south Kashmir's Anantnag. Police said, they recovered stolen property worth lakhs from the arrested persons.
Police said a special team was formed in collaboration with Emergency Service Unit (ESU) Anantnag, developed a technical lead that resulted in the apprehension of five accused persons.
In a handout, police identified the arrested persons as Mohd Imran Hajam son of Mohd Shaban, resident of Wan Devalgam, Nasir Ahmad Dar, son of Showkat Dar, resident of Tangpawa Kokernag, Adil Hussain Dar son of Ali Mohd Dar, resident of Nagam, Shabir Ahmad Wagay son of Gh Hassan, resident of Nagam Kokernag and Arshid Hussain Rather son of Mohd Akbar, resident of Sultanpora Pattan.
On their disclosure, police said, stolen property including 05 gold coins, 05 gold rings, 04 pairs of ear-rings, 01 pendant set, 01 gold chain, 01 gold necklace with pendant, 03 mobile phones, besides cash amount of ₹36,000/- were recovered from their possession. Additionally, two vehicles used in the commission of these crimes have also been seized, police said.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR No. 83/2024 and FIR No. 05/2024 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kokernag and further investigation has been initiated.
