Police arrest drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Baramulla
Ganderbal, Oct 30: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party from Police Station Kangan, under the supervision of SDPO Kangan and headed by SHO PS Kangan, intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint established at Pehelnar crossing Wanghat. They were coming from Naranag towards Baba Nagri Wanghat and have been identified as Mohammad Lateif Jagan, and Amjid Ahmad Jagal, both residents of Naranag Kangan. During their search, a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the Police Station, where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kangan, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile police have also arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
A police party from Police Station Baramulla, headed by the SHO at a checkpoint established at Veerwan, intercepted a vehicle (Tiago) bearing registration No. JK05H-9604, driven by one person identified as Sareer Ahmad Khan, resident of Chellan Boniyar. During the search, 100 grams of a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla, where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
