Police arrest drug peddler in Sopore, recover contraband substance

Srinagar, Aug 12: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police spokesperson said that a police team at a checkpoint established at Maharajpora, Sopore arrested a drug peddler identified as Himayun Rasool Kundoo, son of Ghulam Rasool Kundoo, resident of Sher Colony, Sopore. During search, substantial quantity of poppy straw was recovered from his possession.

He said a case vide FIR No. 157/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
