Police arrest drug peddler in Handwara, recover brown sugar

Kupwara, Mar 25: A drug peddler was Monday afternoon arrested by Police in main town Handwara while 9.14 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Police in a statement said, "During routine patrolling on GMC Handwara Road, a team from Police Station Handwara, led by SHO Handwara, intercepted an individual identified as Abdul Wahid Bhat, son of Ab Khaliq Bhat, a resident of Turkpora Zachaldara. Upon searching him, officers recovered 9.14 grams of a brown sugar-like substance".

"The accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered at Handwara Police Station under relevant legal provisions. An investigation is underway to trace further links in the case" reads the statement.

"Police urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities to the nearest police establishment or by dialing 112. Community cooperation is crucial in the fight against drugs, and strict action will be taken against those involved in such crimes" reads the statement further.
