Police arrest drug peddler in Baramulla, contraband substance recovered

Srinagar, Oct 10: Continuing its unwavering drive against the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

An official said that a police party from PS Tangmarg intercepted a suspicious person at Drung Crossing, Tangmarg. During search, 20 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Rafiq Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Majeed Mir resident of Kampora Tangmarg. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

He said a case vide FIR No. 73/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg, and investigation has been set into motion.

Police reiterated its commitment to make the district free from the scourge of drugs and appealed to the public to come forward with information regarding drug peddling or any other anti-social activity in their neighbourhood.
