Police arrest 6 drug peddlers in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 29: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 6 drug peddlers in Budgam, Ganderbal and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Budgam, a police party of PS Magam during Naka checking at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Magam intercepted two suspicious persons carrying nylon bags who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During the search, 11 grams of heroin-like substance and a digital weighing machine was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Parray, resident of Hardu-Malpora Beerwah and Aamir Farooq Wani, resident of Arath Budgam.
Similarly, a Police Party led by SHO PS Chadoora accompanied by I/C PP Mochewa at a checkpoint established at Sheikhpora Wathoora Crossing and apprehended one suspicious person carrying a nylon bag. During the search, 7 sticks of charas-like substance weighing about 230 grams wrapped in corn maize husk and 1.1 kgs of semi-grinded powder-like substance apparently charas was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Amin Sheikh, resident of Dooniwari Chadoora
In Sopore, a police party of Police Station Panzalla headed by SHO PS Panzalla under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Aabid Rashid Mir, during naka checking at Chek Gujri Rohama apprehended two persons. During search, 45 grams of charas like substance and 88 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Malla and Mohammad Rafiq Hajam, both residents of Rohama Rafiabad.
In Ganderbal, Police Station Ganderbal received information through reliable sources that one person namely Nazir Ahmad Khan, resident of Khan Mohalla Arhama has concealed contraband at his residential home located at Arhama. Upon the receipt of the information, a special police team was constituted who along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class raided the residential house of the accused. During the search, 2.9 kgs of Bhang was recovered and the accused was arrested on the spot.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
