Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Shopian; contraband seized
Shopian, Nov 2: Police in Shopian have arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
According to officials, a police team from Police Post Keegam, during a checkpoint at Marhenz Chowk, intercepted and arrested a suspect identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sunsamil Pulwama. During the search, 500 grams of charas were recovered from his possession.
In another operation at Zainapora Nagard Axis, a police party apprehended another drug peddler identified as Suhail Ahmad Dar, a resident of Wadina Zainapora. A search led to the recovery of 480 grams of a charas-like substance.
Police said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway.
Reiterating its commitment to curbing the menace of drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police appealed to the public to extend cooperation in maintaining a drug-free society and to report any information related to drug abuse or peddling to the nearest police unit.
