Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Pulwama

Pulwama, Oct 8: Police in Pulwama have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic contraband substances and cash from their possession.

A police team from PS Pulwama, stationed at a checkpoint in Drusoo, arrested a drug peddler identified as Umer Hassan Yatoo, a resident of Drusoo Pulwama. During the search, 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (KAIMODIN-T) and cash amounting to `10,800 were recovered. Initial inquiries revealed that the accused was involved in selling Codeine Phosphate at high rates to promote drug addiction among youth.

Meanwhile, a police team from PS Litter, during a Naka checking operation, arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Aqib Khursheed Dangroo, also known as Junaid, a resident of Zasoo. During the search, Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated.

“The J&K Police urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes in their vicinity. Please feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with the police in curbing the menace of drugs in society,” police said.
