Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, Oct 5: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party from PP Shadipora apprehended two suspicious individuals during patrols at Khan Mohallah Bund. During the search, 10.2 kg of dried mashed bhang with seeds and tops, along with 368 grams of bhang powder, were recovered from their possession. The individuals have been identified as Rizwan Ahmad Khan and Sahil Ahmad Khan, both residents of Khan Mohalla.
Furthermore, during preliminary questioning, accused Rizwan Ahmad Khan confessed that he had stashed additional mashed bhang pathri at his home. Accordingly, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate of the 1st Class, an additional 2 kg and 796 grams of bhang patri were recovered from the residential house of the accused, located in Khan Mohalla. Both accused persons have been shifted to the police station, where they remain in custody.
Subsequently, a case has been registered under FIR No. 258/2024 at PS Ganderbal, and further investigation is underway.
“Police urge the public to provide information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or by dialing 112. The general public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs in society. We reassure community members that the police will take strict action against criminals as per the law,” police said.
