Police act against illegal mining in Khrew & Awantipora; machinery, vehicles seized

Srinagar, Jan 09: In continuation of its sustained drive against illegal mining, Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized 02 L&T machines, 01 JCB and 02 tippers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the areas of Khrew and Awantipora.

According to the statement issued, in Khrew, a police party from Police Station Khrew, led by SHO PS Khrew, seized the said vehicles involved in illegal excavation activities. Similarly, in Awantipora, a police party from Police Station Awantipora, under the supervision of SHO PS Awantipora seized vehicles used for illegal mining and transportation of minerals.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Khrew and Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation has been initiated.

J&K Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting the natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate by reporting such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators, the statement reads.
