Police Academy Udhampur organises training programme

Jammu, Oct 29: In an effort to enhance transparency and strengthen the Right to Information (RTI) framework, Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, under the leadership of its Director, has organised a three-day training programme for Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs).

According to a press release, the programme, which began today, aims to equip CPIOs with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle RTI requests in full compliance with legal guidelines.

The training focuses on key areas including overview of the Right to Information Act, 2005, efficient management of RTI requests, handling appeals and exemptions, information disclosure and data protection, and best practices in Public Information Management.

The program features expert speakers from the legal, administrative, and public information sectors, who will engage participants through interactive sessions. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that CPIOs are well-prepared to meet public demands for information while maintaining the integrity of public service.

The event was inaugurated by Rajesh Bali, IPS, Dy. Director (Outdoor) SKPA, who served as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, the Dy. Director emphasised the crucial role CPIOs play in promoting transparency and accountability in governance. “It is essential for public information officers to be well-versed in both the letter and spirit of the RTI Act in order to foster a culture of openness while protecting the interests of the state,” he remarked.
