Srinagar, Jan 16: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages in association with Bazm-e-Shereen Kawoosa Khalsa Narbal organised a literary event today at Tagore Hall Srinagar. The event was presided over by the well-known writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Haleem, while the in-charge officer of Cultural Academy Srinagar Dr Farooq Anwar Mirza, Abdul Rehman Sikandar, the chief editor of Cultural Academy Pahari, Mufti Shafiqur Rahman and the author of the book Alhaj Sheikh Ghulam Akka Lassa Bab was also present in the presidium. The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-i Nabi (SAW).

Dr Shabnam Rafiq, editor of Cultural Academy's encyclopedia department, warmly welcomed the guests and participants of the event and expressed his views regarding the event. Folk singer Khursheed Ahmad Butt and his colleagues enthralled the audience by presenting Kalam-e-Lasa Bab on the occasion.

On the occasion, Haji Sheikh Ghulam Rasool alias Lasa Bab's Kashmiri poetry collection "Aagar Woene" was launched. The young writer Izhar Mubasher gave a detailed commentary on the book. During the ceremony, the guests sitting in the presidium were honored with shawls by Bazm-e-Shereen, among whom Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem, Abdul Rahman Sikandar, Gurmeet Singh are worth mentioning.

Dr Haleem, Abdul Rehman Sikandar, Shahzai Sahiba, Nazir Ahmed and Dr Waheed expressed their views on the book. He congratulated Commissioner Secretary Culture Suresh Kumar Gupta, Secretary of Cultural Academy Bharat Singh Minhas and Academy staff and other officers for organizing such events.

Writer of the book Alhaj Sheikh Ghulam Rasool thanked the  officers of Cultural Academy and Bazm-e Shereen, whose efforts made this kind of event possible. Programme in-charge Dr Shabnam Rafiq moderated the event.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr Farooq Anwar Mirza, in-charge officer of Cultural Academy, thanked the guests and participants of the event. A large number of literature lovers, students and fans of the author Lassa Bab were present in the function, especially Rashid Barki, Dildar Ashraf Shah, Dr Abdul Waheed, Ghulam Hussain Shabnam, Abdul Rashid Nishathi, Manzoor Ahmed, Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad Yusuf, Abdul Ahad, Salim Salik, Dr. Gulzar Ahmed Rather and Maqbool Sajid.
