Poetic collection Sukoot-e-Shab unveiled in Srinagar
Srinagar, Dec 15: A literary event was held to unveil Rakshanda Rashid's poetry collection Sukoot-e-Shab.
The event also saw the presentation of the Fareed Parbati Memorial Awards for 2024. Organised by Koh Maaran, a quarterly urdu magazine, the event was presided over by renowned broadcaster and writer Rukhsana Jabeen. She was joined by Professor Nasir Mirza, Dr. Satish Vimal, Jauhar Quddusi, Dr. Kausar Rasool, and Dr. Nazir Mushtaq.
Two reviews of the book were presented by Jauhar Quddusi and Suhail Salim. The reviews highlighted the literary prowess and thematic depth of Rukhsanda Rasheed's poetry.
During the event, the Fareed Parbati Memorial Awards 2024 were also conferred. The awardees included Rakshanda Rashid, Wajida Tabassum, Dr Shah Faisal, Mohammad Yaseen Ganai, and Babr Wani. The event was attended by prominent literary figures, poets, and dignitaries from across the Valley.
In her address, Rukhsana Jabeen congratulated Rakshanda Rashid and praised her literary achievements. She paid a heartfelt tribute to Rakshanda's late husband, Dr Abdul Rasheed, acknowledging his pivotal role in nurturing her talent. Jabeen emphasised the importance of supportive men in society who empower women to realise their potential.
All the speakers extended their congratulations to Rakshanda Rashid as well as to Suhail Salim, chief editor of Koh Maaran, and Zubair Qureshi for organising the event. They also applauded Rakshanda's children, Dr. Shahid Rasheed and Dr. Rehana, for their unwavering support in bringing their mother’s talent to light.
Several attendees, including Bashir Dada, Riyaz Masroor, Altaf Qawi, and Mushtaq Barq, shared their thoughts during the event. Additionally, Jauhar Quddusi announced the establishment of the Late Dr. Abdul Rasheed Foundation, aimed at working for the betterment of society.
