Jammu, Sep 8: Following the unveiling of its manifesto and the formal launch of its high-octane election campaign by the Union Minister for Home, Amit Shah in Jammu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is finalising the itinerary of its topmost star campaigner – Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Final clearance to the visit itinerary of the Prime Minister, for electioneering in J&K, is awaited by the party,” a senior party leader, preferring anonymity stated, while responding to reports about his (PM’s) visit on September 14 to give a blitzkrieg effect to the party campaign for J&K Assembly elections.

As per an earlier schedule shared by party leaders, the Prime Minister was likely to visit in the second week of September (September 14 or 15) to initiate the party campaign from Chenab Valley, going to polls in the first phase of elections on September 18.

“Our top star campaigners will certainly come here for electioneering in every phase, yet the final confirmed itinerary has yet to reach the party,” the senior leader said.

“Not just the Prime Minister, you will see our Home Minister and Defence Minister, besides other senior leaders, campaigning for the party candidates in every phase. Union Home Minister and Defence Minister, who were here on an election visit to Jammu and Ramban districts, too will come again. The party will go full throttle in Jammu region yet they will visit Kashmir also for campaigning. The exact schedule will be shared soon,” he said.

On Monday, former Union Minister Anurag Thakur will be in Jammu to accompany party candidates Sham Lal Sharma and Arvind Gupta, who will file nominations.
