PMFME scheme awareness camp held in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 16: The Area Marketing Office of the Horticulture Planning and Marketing department organised a one-day awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at Baarji Harwan.

The camp was attended by PRIs, bakery unit holders, educated unemployed youth, progressive farmers, entrepreneurs interested in upgrading their existing units or setting up new ones, and members of the District Level Screening Committee (DLSC) for the PMFME scheme.

Experts from different allied departments deliberated in detail about various horticulture sector schemes. Area Marketing Officer Satya Bhushan, in his inaugural address, apprised participants about the department's activities. Marketing Inspector Shabir Mufti highlighted the micro-food processing sector in J&K and the need to integrate existing unorganised units.

To accomplish the goal of a self-reliant India, the central government has launched the PMFME scheme to provide financial, technical and marketing support for upgrading micro food processing enterprises, thereby integrating around 2 lakh units in the unorganized sector with the formal supply chain.

The camp discussed requirements and formalities like financial assistance, technical knowledge, DPR preparation in detail. Unemployed youth were urged to set up micro food processing units and avail 35% credit linked subsidy up to Rs 10 lakh per unit, along with 3% interest subvention.

The District Resource Person requested interested applicants to contact him for application submission, DPR preparation and follow-up. On-spot assistance was provided to beneficiaries for scheme registration.
