PM thanks Sri Lankan President for inaugurating exposition of Holy Devnimori Relics
New Delhi, Feb 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed gratitude to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for inaugurating the Exposition of the Holy Devnimori Relics at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo. The Prime Minister recalled that during his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, a decision was taken to bring the revered relics to the country so that people could pay their respects.
Highlighting the close ties between the two neighbours, PM Modi said India and Sri Lanka share deep civilisational and spiritual bonds shaped by centuries of cultural exchange.
He noted that the arrival of the Holy Devnimori Relics in Sri Lanka reflects the enduring spiritual connection between the two nations. The Prime Minister also expressed hope that Lord Buddha’s message of compassion, peace and harmony would continue to guide humanity and promote unity across borders. In separate posts on X, PM Modi thanked President Dissanayake for inaugurating the exposition and reiterated the significance of the relics’ visit in strengthening the shared spiritual heritage of India and Sri Lanka.
