PM, Speaker pay tributes to Gandhi, Shastri on birth anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at their portraits in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan on their birth anniversaries.

Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Members of Parliament, former MPs and other dignitaries were also present to honour the leaders.

Earlier in the day, Speaker Birla visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to Gandhi. He described Gandhi’s life as an enduring message for humanity and recalled Shastri’s patriotism, determination and simplicity, noting their continuing relevance for the nation.
