The visit comes after Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s own State Visit to New Delhi in September 2023, during which he attended the G20 Summit and co-chaired the inaugural meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council.

Highlighting the historical and growing ties between the two nations, the MEA noted, “India and Saudi Arabia share close and friendly ties with a long history of socio-cultural and trade contacts.” It further emphasised that the relationship had “evolved into a stronger and enduring partnership in the past decade,” expanding into critical areas such as defence, security, trade, investment, energy, technology, health, education, and cultural exchanges. The MEA highlighted the expanding scope of cooperation, stating, “As strategic partners, the two countries share strong bilateral relations across various areas,” with “growing investment commitments, broadening of defence cooperation and intensive high-level exchanges across sectors.”

During the two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to review the progress in bilateral ties and discuss “various regional and international issues of mutual interest.” The discussions are likely to focus on enhancing energy security, boosting economic collaboration, and addressing shared geopolitical concerns. The Ministry expressed confidence that the visit “will provide an opportunity to further deepen and strengthen our multi-faceted partnership,” setting a fresh agenda for cooperation in a rapidly changing global landscape.
