New Delhi, Sep 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 1.22 lakh crore in Rajasthan, spanning energy, water, infrastructure and employment.

Addressing a rally in Banswara, he dedicated the day’s events to Urja Shakti, saying a “new chapter” in India’s power sector was being written from Rajasthan.

A centrepiece of the announcements was the `42,000 crore Mahi Banswara Atomic Power Project, set to become one of India’s largest nuclear plants with four indigenously designed 700 MW reactors. The Prime Minister also unveiled solar projects and green energy parks worth `19,210 crore across Rajasthan and laid the foundation stone for key power transmission corridors under the Renewable Energy Zone initiative.

“In today’s era of technology and industry, electricity means progress and connectivity,” Mr. Modi said, accusing previous governments of neglecting power supply. He recalled that in 2014, 18,000 villages were still unelectrified and 2.5 crore households lacked connections, but asserted that his government had since ensured near-universal access.

The Prime Minister underlined clean energy as the driver of future growth, highlighting schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for rooftop solar panels and PM-KUSUM for solar pumps. Several feeder-level solarisation projects worth `16,050 crore were launched across states to benefit lakhs of farmers.

Beyond energy, Modi inaugurated water supply and irrigation projects worth `20,830 crore, including the Isarda Dam and Mor Sagar reservoir, and announced `5,880 crore worth of drinking water projects under AMRUT 2.0 in tribal and semi-urban districts. He also launched road works worth `2,630 crore, including new flyovers, bridges and over 100 Atal Pragati Path projects.

Healthcare and civic infrastructure featured prominently, with the inauguration of a 250-bed hospital in Bharatpur, new sewerage systems in Makrana and Mandawa, and an IT and e-governance centre in Jaipur. For connectivity, Mr. Modi flagged off three trains — two Vande Bharat services linking Bikaner and Jodhpur with Delhi, and a new Udaipur–Chandigarh Express. Over 15,000 appointment letters were handed to newly recruited youth in Rajasthan, including teachers, engineers and animal attendants.

Modi urged citizens to embrace swadeshi products during the festive season, saying local purchases strengthen artisans, workers and traders while keeping wealth within the country. “India is working at high speed to become a developed nation, with Rajasthan playing a vital role in this journey,” he declared, congratulating the state on its new projects. Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi were present on the occasion.
