PM MODI’S JAMMU VISIT | Security tightened in Rajouri, Poonch
Rajouri, Feb 17: Security arrangements have been tightened in Rajouri and Poonch districts ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu on February 20.
Security forces in twin border districts have stepped up vigil and security arrangements days before the expected Jammu visit of prime minister. The terror activities in Rajouri and Poonch have already been a challenge for the security forces. Officials said that the forces have taken all measures on grounds that include increase in Area Domination Patrols (ADPs) and Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs).
A Subsidiary Multi-Agency Centre (SMAC) meeting was held at District Police Lines, Rajouri on Saturday. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Amritpal Singh presided the SMAC meet who called for timely sharing of actionable information to counter anti-national activities in the district.
Senior officers of security forces and intelligence grid attended the meeting, reviewed the security situation and highlighted the need for working in a more coordinated and synergised manner to dismantle terror and its support structures.
Threadbare discussions were held on security scenario, law and order situation, movement and presence of terrorists, their attempts to revive militancy, surveillance of over ground workers, surrendered militants, missing youths and their presence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and radicalisation of youth. The participating officers shared inputs and feedback on the steps being taken to maintain law and order as well as on the counter-insurgency grid.
A proper roadmap was chalked out against the hinterland activities of Anti National Elements (ANEs), their modus operandi and smuggling of narcotics, arms, and ammunition and persons involved. The representatives of Army, CRPF, BSF, SB, IB, CID, MI and all Supervisory Officers of District Rajouri attended this meet.
