Jammu, Apr 27: Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh Sunday stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take exemplary action in case of Pahalgam terror attack after wider consultations in the interest of the nation.

He was responding to media’s queries after chairing two separate meetings– first a high-level security meeting at Udhampur, briefed by Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, who is to take over as GoC-in-C Northern Command Udhampur from May 1 and secondly an interaction with Udhampur civil society and public representatives, amid security concerns.

Dr Jitendra said that the Prime Minister had personally taken note of the terror attack and assured of exemplary action also.

“PM has already reaffirmed that the terror victims will get justice and perpetrators and conspirators will not be spared. He (PM) will take action after holding wider consultations to serve the best interests of the nation,” the Union Minister of State in PMO said.

Earlier Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh conducted a review of the security arrangements at a high-level meeting of senior officials of concerned agencies.

Media was not allowed in the meeting where Dr Jitendra was briefed about the security scenario and he had a detailed meeting with Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, who is to take over as GoC-in-C, Northern Command, Udhampur from May 1.

The Union Minister appreciated the role of the Indian Army in keeping the morale of the general public high through their strategic presence at sensitive points.

He also extended good wishes to Gen Pratik Sharma who is taking over command at a time when J&K is in focus. Dr Jitendra also expressed his appreciation for the district administration for ongoing efforts in maintaining law and order and supporting developmental initiatives.

Detailed discussion about hot spots, vulnerability and strategies to plug the same were discussed at length. Directions were issued to work in sync and coordination with all security agencies.

Later, speaking to the media, Dr Jitendra said that the security related details could not be shared in public. He said, “There are certain inputs which are available only with the concerned security agencies and they act accordingly without speaking about it openly but the positive outcomes become visible to the public after the success of their action.”

Nevertheless, the Minister said, the security forces had “spelt out a plan to keep the confidence of the general public high and not let them feel insecure by any means.”

With regard to security concerns, Dr Jitendra said that appropriate security responses would be ensured. “We will address all concerns and constraints to ensure peace and safety. Miscreants will be dealt with firmly,” he added.
