PM Modi welcomes UNESCO recognition of Lucknow as ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’
New Delhi, Nov 1: PM Narendra Modi has expressed happiness over Lucknow’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, calling it a fitting recognition of the city’s rich culinary heritage.
Responding to a post by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Prime Minister said Lucknow’s vibrant culture is deeply rooted in its distinctive cuisine and hospitality.
“Lucknow is synonymous with a vibrant culture, at the core of which is a great culinary culture. I am glad that UNESCO has recognised this aspect of Lucknow and I call upon people from around the world to visit Lucknow and discover its uniqueness,” the Prime Minister posted on X. Shekhawat said the recognition highlights Lucknow’s distinguished contribution to India’s gastronomic traditions and will enhance its global standing as a destination for food, culture, and heritage tourism. He added that the honour will help promote culture-led economic growth and international collaboration through the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
