New Delhi, Jan 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today welcomed the newly signed Haj agreement with Saudi Arabia, which establishes a quota of 175,025 pilgrims from India for Haj 2025.

The agreement was finalised by Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju during discussions with H E Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the Saudi Minister for Hajj and Umrah, in Jeddah.

In a post on X, Rijiju said: “Haj Agreement 2025 signed with Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister for Hajj and Umrah of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Finalized a quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India for #Haj2025. We are committed to providing the best possible services to all our Haj pilgrims.”

In a follow-up statement, Rijiju announced that preparations for Haj 2025 are already underway to ensure the comfort and convenience of the pilgrims. He expressed gratitude to Saudi authorities for their cooperation and support.

Reacting to the development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the agreement as “wonderful news” for Hajj pilgrims from India.

“I welcome this agreement, which is wonderful news for Hajj pilgrims from India. Our Government is committed to ensuring improved pilgrimage experiences for devotees,” he wrote on X.
