PM Modi to visit Kerala today
New Delhi, Jan 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kerala today, Friday, where he will lay foundation stones, inaugurate and flag off a series of development projects in Thiruvananthapuram. He is also scheduled to address a public gathering. The projects span sectors such as rail connectivity, urban livelihoods, science and innovation, citizen services, and advanced healthcare, underlining the government’s focus on inclusive growth, technology-led development, and improved quality of life.
In a push to rail infrastructure, the Prime Minister will flag off four new train services, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains, Nagercoil–Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram and Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli, and a passenger train between Thrissur and Guruvayur.
The new services are expected to improve connectivity across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, boosting tourism, trade, and regional mobility. To strengthen urban livelihoods, Modi will launch the PM SVANidhi Credit Card, an interest-free, UPI-linked revolving credit facility for street vendors, and disburse PM SVANidhi loans to one lakh beneficiaries, including vendors from Kerala. In the science and innovation sector, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the CSIR–NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub, aimed at promoting life sciences, bio-economy research, startups and technology transfer. He will also lay the foundation stone for a Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, enhancing advanced healthcare services in the region, and inaugurate the new Poojappura Head Post Office, offering modern postal, banking and digital services.
