PM Modi meets Grand Mufti of India

New Delhi, Feb 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Sahab, in New Delhi and discussed a range of social, educational and humanitarian issues.

Sharing pictures of the meeting on microblogging site ëXí, PM Modi said, ìHad a very good interaction with Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Sahab, Grand Mufti of India. We exchanged views on a wide range of issues. His efforts to further social harmony, brotherhood and improve education are noteworthy.î

According to a message shared by the Grand Mufti, the discussions focused on inclusive development, educational advancement and key international developments.

He also conveyed concerns and requests gathered during his recent Kerala tour under the theme ëWith Humanityí and extended his message for the holy month of Ramadan.

The PM appreciated the educational and social welfare initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Samasta Kerala Jamíiyyathul Ulama and Jamia Markaz, noting that such efforts contribute positively to Indiaís global standing. The meeting also covered issues including inclusive growth, human development indicators, Waqf-related concerns, protection of historic mosques and Islamic heritage sites, reinstatement of minority educational schemes like the Maulana Azad National Fellowship, development of Aligarh Muslim Universityís Malappuram Centre, and improved connectivity to major pilgrimage centres in South India.

Samasta Kerala Jamíiyyathul Ulama Secretary Sheikh Abdul Rahman Saquafi and Markaz Knowledge City Managing Director Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari were also present at the meeting.
