New Delhi, Sep 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with teachers who were honoured with the National Teachers Awards at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, earlier today.

The awardees shared their teaching experiences and innovative methods they use to make learning engaging for students. They also discussed their involvement in social work alongside their teaching responsibilities.

During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi praised the teachers for their dedication to education, acknowledging the zeal that earned them this prestigious recognition. He discussed the impact of the National Education Policy and highlighted the importance of teaching in one’s mother tongue.

Modi suggested that teachers incorporate local folklore into their lessons in different languages, helping students learn multiple languages while appreciating India’s rich cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the teachers to take their students on educational tours to explore India’s diversity, which he said would not only enhance learning but also boost tourism and support the local economy. Furthermore, he proposed that the award-winning teachers connect with each other via social media to share best practices, allowing others to benefit from their successful techniques.

The National Teachers Awards aim to celebrate and recognise the outstanding contributions of some of India’s best educators every year on Teachers Day.

These teachers have not only improved the quality of education but also positively impacted their students’ lives. This year, 82 teachers were selected for the awards, with 50 chosen by the Department of School Education & Literacy, 16 by the Department of Higher Education, and 16 by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
