New Delhi, May 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Anthony Albanese on his re-election as Prime Minister of Australia, calling the victory a sign of the Australian people’s continued trust in his leadership. In a post on social media platform X, Mr. Modi wrote: “Congratulations @AlboMP on your resounding victory and re-election as Prime Minister of Australia! This emphatic mandate indicates the enduring faith of the Australian people in your leadership.

I look forward to working together to further deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance our shared vision for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.” Mr. Albanese’s Labor Party secured a clear majority in Australia’s federal election, marking a significant endorsement of his leadership for a second term.

The result has been welcomed by leaders across the Indo-Pacific, where Canberra is seen as a key partner in maintaining regional balance and cooperation.

India and Australia elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020, and have since expanded cooperation in defence, trade, critical minerals, and education. Both nations are also active members of the Quad, alongside the United States and Japan, working closely on regional security and development.
