New Delhi, Nov 22: Prime Minister Modi on his last leg of the tri-nation trip, highlighted the bonds between India and Guyana that bind the two nations, PM Modi pointed to three pillars: culture, cuisine, and cricket. “Our commonalities provide a strong foundation for the India-Guyana friendship. Whether it is the festivals of Diwali, the Flavors of our cuisines, or the love for cricket, these connections are unshakable,” he remarked.

He fondly recalled how Guyana contributed holy water and sacred stones for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. “This year’s Diwali is special, as Shri Ram Lalla has returned to Ayodhya after 500 years,” PM Modi said, underscoring the diaspora's emotional and spiritual ties to India.

On cricket, during his visit to Georgetown, Guyana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the unique role of cricket in strengthening ties between India and Guyana. PM Modi met leading cricket players from the country, PM Modi described how the cricket sport has not only deepened bilateral ties but also fostered cultural connections that transcend geographical boundaries.

The Prime Minister noted, “It is more than just a sport; it is a way of life that connects us deeply. Legends like Rohan Kanhai, Alvin Kallicharran, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul have not only won hearts in Guyana but also among cricket-loving Indians.”

Reflecting on his interaction, PM Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Connecting over cricket! A delightful interaction with leading cricket players of Guyana. The sport has brought our nations closer and deepened our cultural linkages."

PM Modi also paid tribute to the Arya Samaj Monument in Georgetown, celebrating its role in preserving Indian culture in Guyana. Marking the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, he reflected on Arya Samaj’s contribution to the Indo-Guyanese community.

Posting on X, PM Modi wrote: "In Georgetown, Guyana paid tributes to the Arya Samaj monument. Their role in preserving our culture in Guyana is indeed commendable. This is also a very special year because we are marking the 200th Jayanti of Swami Dayanand Saraswati."

The Prime Minister reiterated the enduring cultural and historical bonds between India and Guyana. “The Indo-Guyanese community has carried the values, traditions, and spirit of India to this land, and it’s heartening to see these roots thriving,” he said. He also visited the Saraswati Vidya Niketan School and praised its efforts to preserve Indian heritage in Guyana. In another post, PM Modi shared: "Indian culture and traditions are thriving in Guyana. I commend the efforts of institutions like Saraswati Vidya Niketan in boosting cultural and people-to-people linkages."
