Srinagar, Aug 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has addressed a letter to Election Commission of India (ECI), seeking permission for party leaders to run poll campaign for party candidates for general elections to the Legislative Assembly (phase 1) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

A letter forwarded by Arun Kumar, National General Secretary & In-charge, Head quarter BJP  said the list may be treated as valid for the remaining Legislative Assembly Constituencies figuring in Schedule 2 and 3 for the State of Jammu & Kashmir unless we forward an amended list for the remaining schedules within the prescribed time limit.

“This is in fulfillment of Explanation (2) to Section 77 of the Representation of People Act 1952,” the letter reads.

Those named in the list includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Union Minister of Health, Jagat Prakash Nadda; Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh; Home Minister Amit Shah; Minister for Road, Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari; Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar; Minister of Coal & Mines, G Kishan Reddy; Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan; Leader of Opposition of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur; Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister UP; Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister Rajasthan; Ram Madhav, senior BJP leader & National Executive of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Tarun Chugh, BJP National General Secretary & In-charge J&K; Ashish Sood, In-charge Goa BJP; Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Dr Narinder Singh, Anuragh Thakur, Smriti Irani, General V K Singh (Retd.), Ravinder Raina, Ashok Kaul, Dr Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta, Sunil Sharma, Devender Singh Rana, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Sham Lal Sharma, Trilok Jamwal (Himachal Pradesh), Arun Prabhat Singh, Neelam Langeh, Sardar Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Sardar Sarbjit Singh Johal, Dananther Singh Kotwal, Smt. Sangita Bhagat, Haji Javeed Zargar, Sofi Yousuf, Mohammad Anwar Khan; and Smt. Sanjita Dogra.

Notably ECI recently announced schedule for Assembly elections of Jammu & Kashmir which will be held in three-phases. The polls are scheduled to take place on September 18 & 25, and October 1, while as counting of votes will be held on October 4.
