New Delhi, Dec 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday extended their greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Asom Diwas, praising the state’s cultural legacy and highlighting the development achieved under the NDA government.

PM Modi said the day was an occasion to reaffirm commitment to the vision of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha, the founder of the Ahom kingdom. Posting on X, he said the NDA governments at the Centre and in Assam have been “working tirelessly to boost the progress of Assam,” with “remarkable strides” made in physical and social infrastructure. He noted that efforts to promote the Tai-Ahom culture and Tai language would “greatly benefit the youth of Assam.”

In his message on X, Amit Shah said Assam has witnessed significant transformation over the past nine years, with the NDA government ushering in an era of peace and turning the state into “a hub of development and education.” He added that the government remained committed to sustaining this momentum. “May this day strengthen our bond of unity and deepen our connection with our culture,” Amit Shah said.
