PM Modi, Amit Shah condole demise
New Delhi, Dec 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the death of senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, praising him as an experienced parliamentarian who dedicated his life to public service.
In his message, the PM said he was deeply saddened by the passing of Patil, whose long and varied public career spanned roles as MLA, MP, Union Minister, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and later Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
PM Modi noted that Patil was widely respected for his commitment to societal welfare and his steadfast adherence to democratic values.
Recalling his personal interactions with the veteran leader, Modi said their most recent meeting took place a few months ago when Patil visited his residence.
In posts on X, the Prime Minister wrote: “Saddened by the passing of Shri Shivraj Patil Ji… He was passionate about contributing to the welfare of society… My thoughts are with his family in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah also condoled the demise of Patil.
In a post on ‘X’, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah said “Saddened by the demise of former Union Minister Shivraj Patil Chakurkar Ji. With a career spanning several decades, Patil Ji was known for his vast knowledge of public affairs and his dedicated service. Heartfelt condolences to his family members and well-wishers.”
