PM marks 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in Kurukshetra
Kurukshetra, Nov 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed a special event in Kurukshetra marking the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Calling it a remarkable convergence of India’s spiritual heritage, he noted that earlier in the day he was in Ayodhya, the city of the Ramayana, and now in Kurukshetra, the land of the Gita, paying homage to the revered Sikh Guru.
PM Modi recalled a significant coincidence from November 9, 2019, when the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict on the Ram Mandir while he was inaugurating the Kartarpur Corridor.
He said he had prayed that day for the construction of the temple, a prayer that was fulfilled.
At the ceremony, the Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Panchajanya Memorial’ and released a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
He hailed the Guru’s supreme sacrifice in defending truth, justice and freedom of faith, calling him ‘Hind Di Chadar’, the shield of India.
Referring to the Guru ji’s courage during Mughal persecution, PM Modi said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji “remained unwavering till his last breath, sacrificing his life but never compromising on dharma.”
He said that the Guru’s legacy continues to inspire India’s strength, resolve and fearlessness.
PM Modi urged the youth to fight drug addiction, drawing inspiration from the Guru’s efforts to reform society and connect villages through faith and devotion.
Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Union Ministers were present at the event. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, honouring the Sikh Guru’s supreme sacrifice and timeless message of courage and compassion.
In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “On the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, we bow in reverence to his unmatched courage and sacrifice. His martyrdom for the protection of faith and humanity will forever illuminate our society.”
