The event coincided with Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, commemorating 25 years since its formation in 2000. Built on the Green Building concept, the new Assembly complex is fully solar-powered and equipped with a rainwater harvesting system, reflecting the state’s commitment to sustainable development.

Calling it a personally significant moment, the Prime Minister recalled his long association with the state and the early years he spent as a party worker there. He paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whose leadership Chhattisgarh was carved out as a separate state, saying, “Atal ji’s vision has today taken the shape of a confident and developing Chhattisgarh.” Alongside the inauguration, PM Modi also unveiled a statue of Vajpayee at the Assembly complex. He said the modern, solar-powered building symbolises 25 years of public aspiration and democratic growth, calling it “a new pilgrimage site of democracy” for the people of the state. The Prime Minister lauded the Assembly’s design, which incorporates elements of Bastar art and cultural motifs inspired by figures such as Baba Guru Ghasidas, Sant Kabir, and Mata Shabari, representing the values of inclusivity, truth, and service.

Emphasising the ideals of good governance, PM  Modi urged legislators to make decisions that prioritise citizens’ welfare, simplify lives, and uphold transparency and accountability. He linked the spirit of public service to the larger national goal of building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047. Highlighting the state’s transformation from a Naxal-affected region to one known for peace and progress, he said Chhattisgarh now stands as “a symbol of prosperity, security, and stability.” The Prime Minister concluded by describing the new Assembly as a “temple of democracy,” expressing hope that it would become a centre for policy, innovation, and inclusive growth. Governor Ramen Deka, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, and several Union ministers were present at the ceremony.
