Plus 2 lecturers meet LG; seek extension of MACP scheme
Jammu, Feb 19: All JKPSC Plus 2 Lecturers’ Association Wednesday urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to extend the benefits of Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme to directly recruited lecturers of J&K School Education Department to end acute stagnation among them.
The demand was raised when a delegation of Association, led by its president Jammu province Manjit Chib, met the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha here.
The delegation apprised Lieutenant Governor about the acute stagnation faced by 10+2 lecturers of School Education Department (SED) wherein the lecturers recruited directly would get promoted after rendering 20-22 long years of service.
Lieutenant Governor was informed that the stagnation was so grave that most of the lecturers working presently in the SED would retire without availing even a single financial up-gradation as there was no avenue of Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU) or Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme for directly recruited lecturers.
The delegation provided substantial precedents vis-a-vis lecturers from other states or UTs regarding the pay structure and ACP provision of lecturers.
LG Sinha was informed that taking cognizance of this issue, the UT of Ladakh recently extended the benefits of MACP scheme to lecturers of SED, Ladakh.
“The UT of Ladakh acted upon the same proposal that was submitted to the erstwhile State of J&K of which Ladakh was also a part,” the delegation informed.
The LG recognized that the lecturers in JK UT had no career prospects or any scope of financial up-gradation for such a long period of time.
He assured the delegation that due consideration would be accorded to this genuine issue of the lecturers. The delegation was assured of the timely and positive response from his office.
The delegation included senior lecturers Sandeepan Gupta, Vijay Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta and lecturer Anjali Jamwal.
